How to configure your system to use the high-performance graphics card (GPU) if you have dual video (integrated and discrete graphics)?
- Windows Graphics Settings
- Depending on your graphics card: NVIDIA Settings or AMD Radeon Software
Windows Graphics Settings
- Right-click the desktop and choose Display settings.
- Scroll down and click Graphics settings.
- Click Browse and then navigate to and select the software executable. As an example, for Pythagoras 2024, this would be C:\Program Files\Pythagoras 2024\pythagoras.exe. Double-click to add it to the list.
- Click the application (e.g., Pythagoras Application) to activate the Options button. Click it.
- Select the High-Performance option, then click Save and close the Settings panel.
- Relaunch or restart the software (if it was running).
NVIDIA Settings
Update to the latest NVIDIA driver.
- Right-click the desktop and choose NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Click Manage 3D settings on the left and then click the Program Settings tab.
- Under Select, a program to customize, click the drop-down menu and select the Pythagoras program. If the program is not in the menu, deselect "Show only programs found on this computer" to expand the list in the menu or click Add and choose the software there. Further, the Browse button within the Add window might be needed to manually select the program's executable (.exe) file.
- Select High-performance NVIDIA processor in the drop-down menu under Select the preferred graphics processor for this program.
- Click Apply (might need to scroll down to see this button) and then close the NVIDIA Control Panel.
AMD Radeon Software (Adrenalin 2020 Edition)
Update to the latest AMD driver.
- Right-click the desktop and choose AMD Radeon Software.
- Navigate to Gaming > Games
- A list of 3D games/applications currently installed and detected by Radeon Software will be displayed. Each title listed will have its own associated profile.
- To manually add an Pythagoras software, click the three dots on the right and then Add a Game.
- Navigate to the folder where the software executable is located and double-click it to add it to the list.
Remember every new version of Pythagoras will require updating these settings.
