How does a student license work?

Want to get started with Pythagoras as a student? Good news—you can install the same software used by professionals free of charge. A student license gives you 400 days of access to the full software package. As long as you remain a student, you can renew your license after it expires.

Starting with the 2024–2025 academic year, student licenses are cloud-based. This means:

• No more SL licenses.
• You receive a personal activation link by email.
• Your license is linked to your account, not to your device.

Which situation applies to you?

There are three ways to get access to Pythagoras. Which one applies depends on how your educational institution or lecturer manages student licenses.

Option A – Through your educational institution (Academic Software)

Many higher education institutions and some secondary schools use Academic Software to manage student licenses. In that case, you can download, install and activate Pythagoras through the Academic Software portal.

Option B – Through your lecturer

Your lecturer or educational institution manages the licenses directly. You will receive an activation link or license code from them.

Option C – Request your own student license

If your educational institution does not provide student licenses, you can request your own cloud license. This process has changed—SL licenses are no longer used.

3. If there is no arrangement through your educational institution or lecturer, request your own student license using Option C.
