How to Detach a Network SL License for Pythagoras

A Network SL (Software License) is managed on a local license server. In certain situations, such as when a user needs to work outside the network or without a stable internet connection, it may be necessary to temporarily detach (detach) a license from the server.

Important:

  • The Detach & Attach operation only works within the same network.
  • A detached license is temporarily bound to the client computer and will automatically return after the specified period.
  • It is not possible to return the license early. Choose the duration carefully!

Detaching a license on the client computer

For information on cloud-based network licensing, please refer to this article: How to detach (and attach) a license.

The client computer must be on the same network as the license server during the detachment process.

  1. Open a web browser on the client computer and navigate to: localhost:1947 (Sentinel Admin Control Center).
  2. Go to the Products menu and locate the network license.
  3. Click on 'Detach'.

  4. Choose the online detach method.
  5. Specify the period by setting an expiration date.
  6.  Click on Detach & Attach.
  7. The license is now detached from the license server and assigned to the client computer.

Verifying a Detached License

  • Open localhost:1947 (Sentinel Admin Control Center) and go to the Products menu.
  • A green arrow next to the license indicates that it is detached from the server and will automatically return once the period expires.

IMPORTANT:

  • Never choose an excessively long period! There is no way to return a license early to the license server.
  • Ensure that the client computer reconnects to the license server once the detachment period has ended, so the license is automatically released.
  • This process applies to Network SL licenses. If you have a Cloud license (Access-Link), please read How to detach (and attach) a license.
