Missing the required CRS? Here's how to add it

Add a CRS to the selection list

In Pythagoras, you might not see the coordinate reference system (CRS) you need in the selection list. This usually means the CRS isn't enabled in your preferences. In this article, you'll learn step-by-step how to add the missing CRS and how to use and sort the list efficiently.

STEPS

  1. Go to Pythagoras > Settings > Preferences

  2. Open the CRS tab. Here you’ll find an overview of all available coordinate reference systems — even those not currently visible in your quick selection list.

  3. Search for the CRS you’re missing.

  4. Check the box next to it to include it in your CRS selection list.

Tip: Keep your shortlist manageable by only enabling CRS systems you use frequently.

Preferences > CRS tab

Navigate the list faster

To quickly jump to CRS names starting with a specific letter (like B for Belgium), follow these steps:

  1. Click any row in the list to activate it — it should turn blue.

  2. Type the first letter of the CRS name:

    • Press B to jump to CRS entries starting with Belgium

    • Press N to go to Netherlands, and so on.

The list will automatically scroll to the first CRS starting with that letter. This only works if the list is active (i.e. a row is selected).

Smart sorting by name or EPSG code

At the top of the table, you'll see small sort icons:

  • Click the arrow next to CRS to sort alphabetically by name.

  • Click the arrow next to EPSG to sort by code in ascending or descending order.
