How to add web services to Pythagoras

Webservices Manager

With a web service, you can download georeferenced images—background maps—via the internet (URL) and place them in your drawing. A web service is provided by a government agency or another organization. Pythagoras connects to the service but is not responsible for its availability or the accuracy of the data.

Add Web Services (WMS or WMTS)

Open the window Webservice Manager

  • Via the menu: Settings > Webservices Manager...

  • Or via the Active Settings toolbar, click the Webservices Manager icon.

Click 'New'

In the window Webservice Definition:

  • Name: enter a custom name for the service

  • URL: paste the correct URL
(You can find URLs on the websites of the institutions offering the web service.)

  • Click the button Properties...

Defining the webservice

In the window WMS/WMTS Properties:

  • Check that the CRS is set correctly

  • Tick the layers you want to use from the web service

The number of images loaded into your file depends on the selected scale. When you zoom in, fewer images are loaded.

Click OK to close the properties window.
Click OK again to close the Webservice Definition window.

RESULT

In the Webservice Manager window, your library now shows the type, name, and URL of the added service.
