This article provides an overview of the different types of license keys used in Pythagoras, along with their features and uses. This makes it easy to determine which key type best fits your situation.

• Local Software Key (SL Standalone)
• Cloud-based Software Key (SL Cloud)
• Hardware Key (HL – USB Dongle)
• Local Network Key (SL Network)
• Cloud-based Network Key (SL Cloud Network)

Local Software Key (SL Standalone)

• For use on a single fixed computer

• Activation via code (certificate)

• No internet connection required after activation

• Transferable to another computer via a transfer procedure

Cloud-based Software Key (SL Cloud)

• Linked to a user (email address)

• Activation via access email (“access link”)

• Requires a stable internet connection during use

• Can be used on up to 5 different devices (not simultaneously)

• Offline use possible via the detach function

Hardware Key (HL – USB Dongle)

• USB stick containing the license

• Portable: works on any computer with Pythagoras installed

• No internet connection required

• Free replacement in case of defect (with maintenance contract)

Local Network Key (SL Network)

• License is managed centrally on an internal server

• Access for multiple users, limited to the number of purchased seats

• Works without internet, as long as the client is connected to the internal network

• Usable only within the same LAN or via VPN

• License is not tied to a specific computer or user

Cloud-based Network Key (SL Cloud Network)

• License management in the cloud

• Administrator assigns users via email address

• Works on multiple computers (not simultaneously)

• Up to 5 devices per user

• Requires a stable internet connection
