Conversion Maps Manager

The Conversion Maps Manager in Pythagoras CAD allows you to save custom conversions. These conversion sets contain rules that map objects with specific properties to the same object type but with different properties. This feature enables efficient management of object properties during the import process, improving your workflow and ensuring consistency and standardization. Custom-defined conversions can be saved for future use (e.g., for specific clients).

In the conversion manager you can set up these rules.  For sharing conversion maps use the Import and Export functions.

Setting up Conversion rules

To create a rule, specify the conditions and the desired changes.

• Go to menu Settings > Conversion Maps Manager
• In the Conversion Maps Manager window, click New to create a new conversion map.
• Enter a name for your new Conversion map.
• Click Rules to set up a new rule within the conversion map.
• Enter a name for the new Conversion rule.
• Click Edit to define which object and properties need converting. You can define rules to convert the following object types: all, lines, points, polygons and texts. For each rule, you can influence the following properties: layer, color, style, comment, scale, rotation and DB table. 
• Click OK to save the rule.
• Use New or Duplicate to create as many rules as required.
• Verify your set of rules by clicking on Verify.
• Click OK to save the Conversion Map.
• Click OK to save and close the Conversion Maps Manager.

EXAMPLE

A point has layer 'Test' and color 'Blue'. 

Using the conversion manager you can create a rule that all points in layer 'Test' with the 'Blue' color will be converted to points in layer 'New' with a 'Red' color and a comment that contains 'Converted'.

Applying Conversion Rules

Go to File > Convert. Choose which Conversion Map you want to execute.

Apply it directly to the document or use Save as to create a new document for the converted drawing.

Click on Convert.

The conversion rules will be applied automatically to the imported objects based on the defined conditions. The window Conversion Results shows an overview of the type of change and the amount of changed objects. Click OK to close this window.

Sharing Conversion Maps

Every conversion map (a set of conversion rules) can be shared via export and import in the main window of the conversion map manager.

In the Conversion Maps Manager, select the conversion map you want to share. Click Export to save the conversion map as a .json file. To use a shared conversion map, click Import in the Conversion Maps Manager and select the conversion map file.
