Editing a terrain model can be essential for various reasons. Primarily, it allows you to optimize or fine-tune the existing model to enhance its accuracy and performance. Additionally, it provides a foundation for designing and creating new features or modifications based on the current terrain. This article will guide you through the processes and benefits of editing terrain models.
Direct editing of a terrain model can not be undone.
Edit the triangulation directly, one by one, either by Triangle/diagonal or by Vertex
In the menu DTM > Tools you have these options:
- Swap Diagonal, Delete Triangle
- Move (X, Y, Z) Vertex, Add Vertex (X, Y, Z), Delete Vertex, Change (Vertex) Elevation
Edit the shape of terrain model by adding a selection of points as vertexes and/or lines as breaklines. (Polylines if combined with lines) When drawing over a terrain model the height will automatically adapt to the height of the terrain model.
Cut away, erase, a part of the terrain model by using a polygon or polygons as inner or outer limit.
- using the contour of polygones to cut into the terrain model. Either cut inside the polygons or outside the polygons.
- inserting another DTM to your proposed terrain model
