Import DXF/DWG: messages

Choose file path to missing custom linestyles file?

When importing a DWG file into Pythagoras, you received a warning about a missing .shx file. This happens because the DWG contains linestyles that rely on the .shx file for proper display. Without this file, Pythagoras is unable to interpret and display these linestyles correctly, which can lead to certain elements in the drawing appearing incorrect or incomplete. While viewers can display these objects as a reference, this is unfortunately not possible in Pythagoras.

How to resolve this issue:

1. Get the .shx file

The best solution is to request the missing .shx file from the original sender of the DWG file. This file should be included with the drawing, especially if the linestyles or fonts in AutoCAD are required for accurate representation in Pythagoras.

2. Get a DWG with the .shx settings as a package

You can also ask the original supplier of the file to use ETRANSMIT in AutoCAD. This will bundle all necessary files, including the .shx file, along with the drawing. This ensures that all required references are available when importing into Pythagoras.

3. Request a simplified DWG

If the supplier is unable to provide the .shx file, ask them to send a DWG without X-ref objects or other "smart" AutoCAD-specific objects, as Pythagoras does not support these. This will help avoid issues with missing references during the import.

4. Handling the message in Pythagoras

If you don’t have the .shx file, you can choose to ignore the warning by selecting "No to all" when prompted. However, note that ignoring the warning may cause certain elements to appear incorrectly, as Pythagoras needs the correct settings from the .shx file to properly convert the objects.
