Transform to another Coordinate Reference System

Change a drawing to a different CRS

Use the Transform to Coordinate Reference System command to permanently convert an entire drawing to a different Coordinate Reference System (CRS). Pythagoras recalculates the coordinates of all objects so that the drawing remains correctly positioned in the selected CRS.

Use this command when you want to permanently convert an existing drawing to another coordinate reference system, for example from Belgium / Lambert 72 to Belgium / Lambert 2008.

This command is only available if the drawing has an active CRS. See Select a CRS for a drawing.

STEPS

  1. Go to Calculation > Transformation > To another CRS...
In the Transform to Coordinate Reference System dialog, the current CRS of the drawing is displayed.

  2. Under Coordinate Reference System, select the CRS you want to convert the drawing to, for example Belgium / Lambert 2008.
If the required CRS is not listed, see CRS is missing.

  3. Click OK.

Pythagoras recalculates the coordinates of all objects in the drawing.

Optional: Use control points

Enable Use control points if you want to perform a local transformation.

Select the required control point set and the preferred error distribution method.

RESULT

The entire drawing has been converted to the selected CRS. All objects now have coordinates in the target coordinate reference system.

Typical use cases include:

  • permanently converting a drawing from Lambert 72 to Lambert 2008
  • transforming a local survey to a national CRS
  • applying a control point transformation to existing data
