Checklist for performance issues in Pythagoras
Use this checklist when Pythagoras responds slowly, takes long to recalculate, or shows unexpected performance issues. You may note the requested information or simply send screenshots to support.
STEPS
1. Check your Pythagoras version
Open Pythagoras.
Go to Help > About Pythagoras.
Note the full version number.
Check whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit (if mentioned).
Important: always provide the complete version number, for example 25.04.01. Not just ‘version 25’.
2. Check where your project file is stored
Open the folder where your project file is saved.
Check whether the file is located on:
A local drive (for example C:)
A network drive or server
Working over a network may cause delays when opening, saving or recalculating.
3. Check your processor (CPU)
Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
Go to Performance.
Click CPU.
Note the processor type and model or take a screenshot.
4. Check your memory (RAM)
Open Task Manager.
Go to Performance > Memory.
Note or screenshot:
Total RAM
Current usage while Pythagoras is slow
5. Check your graphics card (GPU) and driver
Graphics performance directly affects Pythagoras, especially in 2D and 3D views. On some systems, Pythagoras may run on the integrated GPU instead of the dedicated GPU, which impacts performance.
A. Check the graphics card (GPU)
Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc).
Go to Performance > GPU.
Check whether multiple GPUs are listed (for example GPU 0 and GPU 1).
Note or screenshot:
The exact model of each GPU
Which GPU is active while Pythagoras is running
Or:
Open Device Manager.
Go to Display adapters.
Check which graphics cards are listed.
Important: many laptops have two GPUs (integrated and dedicated). Mention both if applicable.
B. Check the graphics driver
Open Device Manager.
Go to Display adapters.
Right-click the graphics card and select Properties.
Open the Driver tab.
Note or screenshot:
Driver version
Driver date
An outdated or incorrect driver may cause performance or display issues.
6. Check your Windows version
Press Windows key + R.
Type winver.
Press Enter.
Note or screenshot:
Windows version
Build number
7. Check system load
Open Task Manager while the slowdown occurs.
Check the usage of:
CPU
Memory
GPU
Disk
Preferably send a screenshot while the issue is occurring.
RESULT
You have collected all relevant system and version details. With this information, support can determine whether the issue is software-, hardware-, driver-, or network-related.
