Assign heights to a 'flat' polyline
In Pythagoras 2021 you will have the possibility to design a single polyline that has no relevant height into a polyline with chosen slope and height parameters.
Select a polyline you will have access to the Design > Polyline/Path Elevations > Slope based and Design > Polyline/Path Elevations > Elevation based options in the Calculation-menu. These functions will also be accessible via right-clicking after selecting the polyline.
After activation you will be able to add the following parameters to the polyline:
- Slope
- Start height
- End height
- Height difference between start and endpoint
Depending on what fields are filled in, others may be filled in automatically.
Slope based
Example: You’ve drawn the centerline of a road as a simple 2D polyline. You know the road must rise at a slope of 3% over its total length, starting at +25.00 m. In the Polyline Elevations-window: slope = 3%, start Z = +25.00 m. Hit TAB-button and the end height is automatically calculated.
Elevation based
Example: You want to design a ramp between two known levels: the top level is at +20.00 m and the bottom level at +16.50 m. You select the polyline, enter start height = +20.00 m and end height = +16.50 m. Pythagoras calculates the slope = –8.89% and the height difference (dZ) = –3,5 m.
