Draw a line at a specific angle

In Pythagoras you can draw a line with a fixed length and angle, for example relative to the north direction. This is useful for precise layout tasks, such as orienting objects to survey bearings or creating reference lines.

WORKFLOW

requires Confirm operation is ON.

  1. Click the drawing function Create Line.

  2. Click in the drawing area with the cursor to set the starting point. Press ENTER.

  3. Click again in the drawing area to indicate a direction (anywhere) or to define the endpoint.

The Control Panel will now show additional fields:

  1. Press TAB repeatedly until you reach the field L = line length. Optionally, enter the desired value.

  2. Press TAB to move to the field B = angle relative to north direction and enter the desired value.
(Angle unit can be set in Settings > Preferences)

  3. Press ENTER.

Settings > Preferences > Units: Angles

Notes

  • Length entry is optional: if left blank, the line is drawn infinitely in the chosen direction.

  • Angles are measured relative to north, based on the active settings.
