How to create a line style
Pythagoras offers the possibility to create your own symbols, line styles, and patterns. Once created, you can assign them to any point, line, or polygon in a drawing (not available in the LITE bundle).
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Draw the Line Style
- Draw one segment of the line style at the desired size using lines, arcs, circles, polygons, and text (no polylines).
- Properties such as line thickness, polygon pattern, and color will be retained in the symbol. If all elements of the symbol have the same color, you can assign any color to it later when using it.
2. Add two Hotspots
The hotspots of a line style mark the beginning and end of the segment that will be repeated.
- Place a point where your line style starts and another where it ends.
- For both points, go to Edit Object.
- Change the Style to Hotspot. Click OK.
3. Select all Elements
- Select all the elements of the symbol, including both hotspots (maximum approximately 64,000 elements).
4. Create the Symbol
- Go to Menu > Settings > Symbols > Create > Line Style...
- In the Line Style window, choose the desired Properties and give the symbol a Group Name and a Symbol Name. Symbols can either be placed in the library or in the active drawing.
- Click the OK button.
With these steps, you can easily create and use your own line styles in Pythagoras by first choosing the Group and then the Symbol when selecting the style.
