Create new objects from an existing path

You can convert a path into a single polyline, unpack it into separate objects or use it to create a parallel path.

Continue working with a single object: use Convert to Polylines.
Edit the components separately: use Unpack.
Create a new path at a specified distance:
use Create parallel object.

Convert a path into a single polyline

Use this operation to select and edit the entire route as a single polyline.

  1. Select the path.

  2. Right-click the path.

  3. Choose Edit > Convert to Polylines.

The result is a single polyline. Elevations, layer, colour and line style are retained.

Unpack a path into lines and points

Use this operation to select and edit the components of the path separately.

  1. Select the path.

  2. Right-click the path.

  3. Choose Edit > Unpack.

The path is removed and its components become separate drawing objects. The elevations and attributes of the path are retained.

Create a parallel path

Use this operation to create a new path at a specified distance from an existing path.

  1. Choose Create parallel object.

  2. Click the existing path.

  3. Enter the distance in the control panel. Use Tab (D–%–#) to enter additional parameters.

  4. Confirm the operation.

The new object is also a path. Its elevations are inherited from the source path.

The active settings are used for attributes such as layer, colour and line style.

Note: from version 25.08 onwards, deleting the parallel path leaves only its associated points in the drawing, with the Invisible point style.
