Tools in the Create Toolbar

The Create toolbar in Pythagoras provides tools for drawing and constructing geometric objects, including points, lines, arcs, circles, polygons, paths and polylines. It also includes tools for creating text, annotations and geometric constructions based on existing objects.

Some tools are grouped and offer multiple drawing or construction methods.

How to use grouped tools

ToolDescription
Create PointCreate a point by specifying its position or entering its coordinates.
Create LineDraw a straight line by defining its start and end points.
Define Line: parallel/tangentialConstruct a line parallel or tangential to an existing line or arc.
Define Line/Arc: perpendicularConstruct a line or arc perpendicular to a reference object.
Define Arc: tangentialConstruct an arc tangent to an existing line or arc.
Define Arc: tangential to 2 lines/arcsConstruct an arc tangent to two existing lines and/or arcs.
Create Arc: using 3 pointsDraw a circular arc defined by three points.
Create Arc: center point + radiusDraw a circular arc by defining its center point, radius and arc limits.
Create Circle: center point + radiusDraw a circle by defining its center point and radius.
Create Circle: using 3 pointsDraw a circle passing through three specified points.
Create coordinate systemDefine a coordinate system for positioning and orienting geometry. Coordinate Systems
Create PolygonDraw a closed area object whose boundary consists of line and/or arc segments. Polygons: how to create and annotate a polygon
Create PathCreate a reference path used for stationing, positioning objects and performing design operations relative to the path.
Create PolylineDraw a connected geometric object consisting of consecutive segments, optionally including elevation data. Drawing and Editing Polylines
Define parallel objectCreate an object at a specified parallel offset from an existing reference object.
Create Text (Basic / Rich)Add horizontal text using either basic text or rich text with advanced formatting. Working with Text
Define Spiral (3 options)Construct a clothoid as a transition between geometric elements. Three methods are available: tangent to a line/arc/circle, tangent to a line and circle or two circles, and clothoid–arc–clothoid.
Create Text aligned (Basic / Rich)Add text aligned along a specified direction, using either basic text or rich text.
Create Annotation (19 options)Add annotations for coordinates, point numbers, elevations, distances, angles, slopes, areas, volumes, XY offsets and other geometric properties. Nineteen annotation options are available.
Define Point: intersectionCreate a point at the intersection of geometric objects.
