Add a legend to your page layout
With the Bonus Tools you can automatically generate a clear legend that lists all symbols, line styles and polygon patterns used in your drawing. You control how legend items are named and on which layer the legend is placed. The legend is always created in page coordinates, making it suitable for plan sheets and printing.
Make sure the Bonus Tools macro is installed: How to install macro: Bonus tools
Verify that Bonus Tools is set as the active macro.
STEPS
Configure legend settings
Open Bonus Tools > Symbol tools > Settings legend.
In Naming, choose how legend items are labeled:
Groupname – Symbolname: shows both the symbol group and symbol name
Symbolname: shows only the symbol name
Layername: uses the layer name instead of the symbol name
Under Add default symbols, choose whether default symbols should be included:
Enabled: default symbols are added to the legend, even if they are not used in the drawing
Disabled: only symbols actually used in the drawing are included
In Layer, select or create the layer on which the legend will be created.
Click OK to confirm the settings.
Create the legend
Go to Bonus Tools > Symbol tools > Create legend.
The legend is automatically created as a table in Page coordinates.
All used point styles (symbols), line styles and polygon patterns are included, as long as they are available in:
the system library
the document library
Edit the legend
Switch the control panel to page coordinates.
Select the legend.
Edit position, text or scale as needed, just like any other page object.
RESULT
The drawing now contains an automatically generated, consistent legend with all used symbols, line styles and patterns, correctly placed in page coordinates and ready for use on plan sheets or printouts.
