Editing Symbols Directly

Available from Pythagoras 2024

You can directly edit symbols, line styles, and patterns — making it easy to personalize drawings or adjust styles quickly.

This feature is available:

  • by right-clicking a symbol, line style, or pattern and choose Edit [Symbol / Line Style / Pattern]

  • via the Edit button in the Symbol Manager window (Settings > Symbols > Symbol Manager...)

WORKFLOW

1. Activate the Edit (style) command

Use one of the following:

  • by right-clicking a symbol, line style, or pattern and choose Edit [Symbol / Line Style / Pattern]

  • via the Edit button in the Symbol Manager window (Settings > Symbols > Symbol Manager...)

2. Edit the style in a new drawing

A new drawing will be opened in Pythagoras where you can adjust it to your likings. When the changes have been made you can save it, in this case as a symbol. You can choose to save it as a duplicate, give it a new name or you can overwrite the existing symbol in your library.

3. Save the changes and return to the original drawing.

When the changes have been made, click 'OK' and you'll return to the original drawing where the symbol will be changed.

Line Style

For Line Styles, you only have the characteristic 'Scale Dependent' to consider.

Pattern

For Patterns you can change the angle and the scale dependency.
