Common error codes and fixes

HASP Status Code: 38 – TooManyUsers

Meaning:
Too many users are currently connected to the license.
All available licenses (seats) are in use by other users or computers.

Solution:

  1. Check if the license is still active on other computers.
Properly close Pythagoras on unused machines.

  2. Ask colleagues if they are still actively using the license.
If multiple users need access, an additional license is required.

  3. Wait for a license to become available.
Sometimes it takes a moment for a released license to be recognized.

  4. Restart the computer if needed to clear a stuck session.

HASP Status Code: 91 – IdentitySharingViolation

Meaning:
The session was terminated because another machine with the same identity credentials took over the license.
This occurs with identity-based licenses, which are tied to a specific user or device.
When a new session with the same identity starts on another machine, the first session ends automatically.

Solution:

  1. Check if the license is already active on another machine.
Ask users if someone else is using the same license.

  2. Ensure there are no duplicate identities.
Avoid logging in with the same identity on multiple devices at once.

  3. Restart the software and try reconnecting.
Sometimes a session remains 'stuck' and isn’t immediately released.

  4. Contact the software provider about a license that supports multiple identities.
A multi-seat license may be required.
